Y5-6 recently learned about persuasive writing and soon put their newly acquired skills into action. They came up with the idea of putting on a ‘prom’ - a traditional graduation dance and wrote persuasive letters to our School Principal, Vjeko, seeking permission to go forward with their project. For 13 years, World Read Aloud Day has been honouring the joy of reading by challenging communities in more than 173 countries to read out loud. The global effort is celebrated annually and has been a long-standing tradition at ISN. On 1 December, Primary learning partners (lps) were asked to bring in ornaments from home or to make some with their homeroom teachers. Secondary lps wrote personal messages on theirs and everyone enjoyed the snacks and beverages provided by our caring P&F volunteers. On 16 November, Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 went on a field trip to Hambacher Schloß. The Komm Mit project is an exclusive opportunity for students to get a glimpse into the workings of the German government. Two of ISN’s learning partners from Year 10 paired with a politician who guided them through the concepts and language they might encounter in local government. Before heading off for the winter break, lps from PY and the IBDP were happy to welcome Robin Rothe from Lichtblick, a local charity which supports Neustadt’s homeless population. Ghosts, ghouls and creepy creatures took over our Games Room and outdoor area at Campus 1 last Friday thanks to ISN’s Halloween party organized by our dedicated P&F!
