ISN SCIENCE CORNER

Y9 conducted the ‘elephant toothpaste’ investigation, which explored their understanding of exothermic and endothermic investigations. In a separate Science session, they applied their knowledge of reversible reactions to an investigation involving copper (II) sulphate. Learning Partners added water to anhydrous copper (II) sulphate to make hydrous copper (II) sulphate. They then converted the hydrous copper (II) sulphate back to anhydrous copper (II) sulphate by heating. Great work Year 9.

Meanwhile, Y10 put their understanding of separation techniques into practice, as they investigated the technique of chromatography (a technique for the separation of a mixture by passing it in solution or suspension through a medium in which the components move at different rates).
