Duke of Edinburgh Practice Walk & Camp

This week, our Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award participants headed out for a fantastic practice walk and overnight camp – and what an experience it was!
With rucksacks packed and spirits high, the group completed an 8 km hike to a nearby local landmark. Along the way, they put their navigation skills to the test, using maps, compasses, and visible landmarks to stay on course and calculate travel times between checkpoints. It was a great opportunity to build confidence and teamwork while preparing for the challenges of their upcoming expedition.
Back at school, the team rolled up their sleeves for some camp craft practice. Tents went up, gear was sorted, and everyone got hands-on experience with the practical side of outdoor life.
As the sun went down, temperatures dropped more than expected – but thanks to the warmth of the fire pit and a well-earned BBQ, spirits stayed high and laughter filled the evening.
A huge thank you goes to Florian, Lisa, and little Roo 🐾 for their guidance, support, and good vibes throughout the training.
We’re incredibly proud of our young adventurers – you showed resilience, focus, and great teamwork. Bring on the qualifying expedition!
