Still I Rise – ISN Poetry Day Competition 2026
Celebrating Resilience Through Poetry

The International School Neustadt (ISN) proudly announces its fifth annual Poetry Day Competition, held in celebration of UNESCO’s World Poetry Day on March 20. This year’s theme, “Still I Rise – Celebrating Resilience Through Poetry,” invites young poets to explore the power of perseverance, hope, and inner strength through their words.

Students in grades 6–12 from Neustadt an der Weinstraße and surrounding areas are warmly invited to participate. Poems may be written in English or German, and all submissions must be original works inspired by the theme.

Participants will bring their poems to life during the Poetry Day Event on March 20, 2026, at 18:00 at International School Neustadt, Haardter Str. 1.
Winners will be selected in both German and English categories, with first and second place prizes awarded in each language — a total of four outstanding young poets will be honored.

Entries should be submitted by email to poetryday@is-neustadt.de no later than March 15, 2026. Each submission must include the student’s full name, school, and grade level. Poems must not exceed 20 lines.

A panel of judges — including local poets, teachers, and community members — will evaluate the entries based on creativity, connection to the theme, literary expression, and overall impact. Finalists will then perform their poems at the live event, where their delivery and stage presence will also count toward the final decision.

Through this annual celebration, ISN continues to foster creativity, resilience, and a love of language among students. For more details about ISN’s approach to building resilience — an SBW Future Skill — visit https://www.sbw.edu/en/education.
